Chinese Noodles

I borrowed a Chinese cook book which I saw from my ninong’s (a guy godparent) place. I’ve only tried two dishes from that cook book and so far so good. We had Chinese Noodles (that’s the name of the dish already) for dinner awhile ago.

Anyway, it actually tastes good. I’m not saying it because I did it since honestly speaking, it was yaya G who cooked it, I was just giving her the instructions. :D It’s a team effort and we all liked the food, even the little princess. I’ll try to post the recipe tomorrow.

Bitter Melon aka Ampalaya

Our dinner for tonight was stir-fried ampalaya (with shrimps). It was really bitter that all of us four (me, my mom, yaya G and yaya J) were not able to eat a lot. But to our surprise, the little princess liked it. She ate it as if it was her favorite fries. We were really amazed how she liked the food. She even asks for more when she finished her first serving of ampalaya. Natalo kami ng one year old! (We were beaten by a one year old!)

My imperfect cake

I went on doing the adult style cake this afternoon which, sad to say, was a failed attempt. I actually got an accident as I got burnt with the molder and I tipped it over crashing the second cake (I made two layers). I did not make the chocolate gnache anymore since the cake was ruined.

So there, no picture for this one. *buhuhuhu* It’s going straight to our stomach. :D

Cook fest

Okay, I have to blog about my cook fest yesterday before I get out of this room today.

My youngest sis who has been requesting me to bake her a cake since April 2007 (I think) is here in Manila and asking for it again. (Not whining here). I am supposed to make it last Sunday but the little princess got sick that day. So I have to postpone it until the following day (yesterday). But as I’ve said before, I was too dizzy yesterday but my mom was super persistent. So fine, I made the cake after lunch. Good thing I didn’t feel dizzy while making the cake, I was actually having fun. I didn’t make the same cake I did for the little princess’ 5th month birthday. I made it kid friendly since my sister’s going to share it with our niece and nephews. I haven’t had any news from them about it. I hope they liked it (not to the point they want me to make another one again, hahaha! Feeling!) And since I only made one yesterday, I’ll be making another batch for us today. This time, I’ll be doing an adult style cake. By the way, kiddie style cake = I used the filling as frosting too. For the adult cake, I’ll just use the filling as filling and I’ll make chocolate ganache for frosting.

After baking, I cooked the husband’s lunch viand for the following day come dinner time. I made him Five Spice Beef and Broccoli which I hope he’ll like. :)
