Chinese sauce

Ate at North Park the other day with who else but hubby. He ordered White Chicken while I ordered steamed sharks fin dumpling and fresh lemonade, which I really really love!

Anyway, I tasted the white chicken which by the way was cooked steamed. What made it special is its sauce. It was thick and somehow sweet so it’s definitely not just your ordinary soy sauce. I forgot to ask the waitress for the name of the sauce so I tried to google it and this is what I found:

Basic Chinese Brown Sauce*

In a measuring cup, combine:
2 Tbl. soy sauce, shoyu, or Bragg’s
3/4 c. water
0.5 – 1 Tbl. grated ginger
1 tsp. chopped garlic (1 clove)
1 Tbl. cornstarch
1 Tbl. molasses

I am not really sure if this is what I am looking for, but I think this is the closest and I’ll try it sometime.

*sigh* speaking of north park, I am craving for some litid (anised beef tendon)!

Tasty Dumplings

I grew up sheltered by my very strict father who treated me as a fragile baby even when I was already in college. Not that I am complaining but it did restrict me from experiencing and knowing things on my own. Imagine, I only knew Banawe as a province and not a place in Quezon City. Wala kasing nararating besides places here in the south. And as far as I can remember, the only three places I can associate then with Quezon City are: the City Hall where my dad used to work, SM North and Cubao because of Fiesta Carnival. And even though I know this places, it doesn’t really mean I know how to get there on my own.

Then I met hubby, a batang QC. I learned places I never knew existed through him. And just like the other week, he brought me to his favorite food place near Banawe. It is the only restaurant place where he eats pork and I saw why.

Tasty Dumplings breaded pork chops are thinly sliced and doesn’t taste much of a pork. Hubby had a bad experience with porks that made him unable to eat them (except processed food and ground pork) but with this one, it was actually the first time in our 12 years of being together that I saw him eat a pork chop. Imagine that!

Chinese Noodles

I borrowed a Chinese cook book which I saw from my ninong’s (a guy godparent) place. I’ve only tried two dishes from that cook book and so far so good. We had Chinese Noodles (that’s the name of the dish already) for dinner awhile ago.

Anyway, it actually tastes good. I’m not saying it because I did it since honestly speaking, it was yaya G who cooked it, I was just giving her the instructions. :D It’s a team effort and we all liked the food, even the little princess. I’ll try to post the recipe tomorrow.
