Chocolate Surprise Cupcake

My eldest sister is giving a despedida dinner for my inay at her place tonight.  So out of the blue, I decided to try the Chocolate Surprise Cupcake recipe I saw from Allrecipes.com as a little contribution.  I usually make half of the published ingredient first specially if it’s my first time to try the recipe.  Para d naman sayang.  But then, I was confident enough that I could do this without a glitch.  Madali lang naman sya. Lo and behold, wala na pala akong flour!  I only have enough for a dozen instead of 2 dozens of cupcakes.  Pwede na rin.  So I prepared mixing the ingredients and found out that my chocolate mix can make 24 cupcakes but not sure though with the cream cheese filling.  Pinilit ko na lang :D  It tastes good according to the people who have tasted it (sila yaya G, yaya J and hamey).  For me, may kulang!  Then I realized that I made do with my cream cheese filling good for 12 cupcakes to 24 cupcakes, shucks!   Lesson learned!

I’ll definitely make another one of these and I plan to make a cake with deco for my niece on her birthday this coming February.  Got really inspired by Cafe Munchkin again!  Idol! I have never really tried decorating cake with cream frosting. I’ve only tried Gnache with Chocolate Buttermilk Frosting (d ko mahanap link nito! pft!) on my Dark Chocolate Cake for Vera’s 5th month birthday in 2007. And another simple ref cake for her 7th month birthday. If you check the two cakes, wala akong creativity nalalaman sa katawan :D I guess both turned OK specially the ref cake. Simut e!

Anyway…

Baking Again

My Little Cook

I love baking! I have better chances in baking than cooking ordinary meals like Tinola or Adobong Manok. Actually, I haven’t had any success with chicken. Nakakahiya!

Anyway, I started baking again and made use of the oven this time.   We’ve been using the Turbo Broiler since we got back. Started using the gas oven last Christmas.

For the holiday season, I made lasagna for the family. I never had the chance to take some step by step picture but I ‘d like to share something else. I baked cookies and had the chance to do some photo opps while preparing and baking :) I’ve tried baking oatmeal cookie when we were still in the US but never perfected it. This time, I believe, I did it! Thanks to more wiser me. *LOL*

Anyway, I made two different type of cookies in two consecutive days. On the first day, I made Oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips and on the second day, I made Chocolate cookies. All recipes were from Allrecipes.com with some adjustments.

s'mores day

Thanks to Mommy Weng, I got inspired to make our own s’mores today. And as promised, I took some pix :)

Ingredients:

Graham Cracker
Mallows
Chocolate

Steps:
1. Place graham cracker on a microwave-safe plate.

2. Place Chocolate on top of cracker.

3. Place Mallow on top of the chocolate.

4. Microwave for 10 seconds. Repeat until mallows puffs.

5. Top it of with another cracker.

Enjoy! :)

The little princess only ate the uncooked mallows. :D

Corned Beef Macaroni

I opened a can of ravioli pasta the other night. Since it doesn’t really taste that good, I added a can of Hunt’s tomato sauce, pepper and some spices. We were able to consume all the ravioli that night but there was still huge amount of sauce left. So what I did was to buy a 400g macaroni for the extra sauce we have. I added cheese and a few sliced hotdogs. When I was about to finish, I realized that my macaroni pasta looks dull, walang kalaman laman. My mom suggested that we add corned beef.  Huh?  So, ok, we tried. Aba! Masarap nga!

So there, another good food experiment. Try it, and you might like it.
